A Letter of Condolence,
To the Families & Friends of Eyali, Gilad & Naftali:
We want to express our personal and collective grief at the tragic loss of Naftali, Gilad and Eyal. Words seem so inadequate yet words are all we have to convey the depth of our hopes and prayers that you will someday find peace and consolation in the midst of this heartache. Though we all feel an abiding solidarity with you, we cannot begin to fathom your deep, personal pain and anguish. What we can do – and vow to do - is to be here for you to express our love and sympathy, and to promise to be true to the ideals and aspirations for which they lived.
The People of Israel – your global Jewish family – stand shoulder to shoulder with you. We mourn from afar, but we are amcha – we are your people, united in our grief. We are also united in our mission: to be a free people in our land, to build communities of meaning and purpose, to repair the shattered fragments of our world. These are the values and dreams that bring us close; that we are mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, families and friends – and know the precious nature of life – brings us closer.
We pray that the memories of Naftali, Gilad and Eyal will forever be a blessing to all who knew and loved them, and to the entire Jewish people.
Ha'makom yenakhem etkhem betokh she'ar avelei Tziyon vi'Yerushalayim - May God console you among the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
